The Secret to a Vibrant Wood Grain: Why I Ditch the Brushes.
People often ask how we achieve such a deep, rich glow on our custom signs. The truth is, the magic starts long after the laser finishes its job.
In our Tampa workshop, I’ve found that traditional brushes often hide the very thing we love: the natural beauty of the wood. Instead, I use a technique that requires a bit more "elbow grease." I apply our Nutmeg gel stain using a simple paper towel, rubbing it vigorously into the fibers of the Baltic Birch plywood.
Why this matters:
Precision: Unlike a brush, which can leave a thick layer, hand-rubbing allows me to control the pigment depth.
The Glow: This friction literally makes the wood grain "pop," bringing out a natural luster that you just can't get any other way.
Texture: It leaves the surface incredibly smooth to the touch, highlighting every unique swirl in the wood.
It takes more time and physical effort here in New Port Richey, but for WoodHarmonyUS, quality and the authentic feel of handmade craft always come first.
