A Bold Wooden Sign for Fire Mission Smokehouse & Taproom

Some business signs need to feel strong before you read a single word.

This Fire Mission Smokehouse & Taproom piece was one of those projects that looks bold and fun in the finished photo, but it took a lot of careful work behind the scenes.

Before cutting anything, we spent almost a full day drawing and preparing the artwork in the design program. There were many small parts, thin lines, smoke details, lettering, and layered pieces that all had to fit together cleanly.

After that, the assembly felt almost like building with LEGO — piece by piece, layer by layer, until the skull, tools, smoke, and lettering came together into one strong sign.

We made it from Baltic Birch plywood in our workshop, building the artwork in layers instead of printing it flat. That gives the whole piece real depth when the light hits the sign.

This was a challenging sign, but also one of those jobs that was genuinely enjoyable to make. It really stands out among the others.
